I downloaded Sketchup 6.0 and tried out the tutorial. In just a few minutes I
was making simple 3-D models. Manipulations of the models were intuitive
and straightforward. This ease of use is a far cry from the CAD software
that was forced upon me many years ago as an undergraduate. Beyond the software
itself, I was more impressed with the 3dwarehouse repository of Sketch-up
models. This combined with Google Earth is the closest I've seen an interface
come to meeting the promise of online, codeable VRML worlds promised over 15
years ago.
