1. what are aspects of the course so far that are positive and should be sustained?

I like covering the different topics from different sources. It provides a better feel for what is actually being done.

2. what do you think about the following parts of the course?

2.1. Lectures

The lectures are okay. I feel I learn better from reading and listening to the lecture. I am not a big advocate of discussion based classes.

2.2. Guest Lectures

I found them interesting. It provides a different point of view from someone who may be more involved in a specific area which is interesting.

2.3. "practical sessions" (EDC, PitaBoard, Role Playing)
I do not like role playing. I did find the demos interesting to see how these ideas are actually implemented.

2.4. small assignments

The assignments are okay. I think it forces us as students to be better prepared for the lecture for the day. I am not sure I like the summary/analysis roles, though.

2.5. efforts of getting course participants involved in the course

The options are there for those who wish to add to the discussion in class.

2.6. use of the Swiki in the course

I like the Swiki. It is a good tool for us to easily share information with the other members of the class and for the professor to add information for us to see.

2.7. peer-to-peer learning (e.g., to which extent did it happen in your case)

I am more of an independent worker and have not worked or discussed anything in the class with another class member much.

2.8. independent research activities

I am not far enough into the research for any comments.

2.9. course projects

I am not far enough into the project for any comments.

3. which improvements would you like to see for the course?

4. self-assessment – please let us know how well YOU think you have done in the course Think about this in terms of your performances in:

4.1. please give an honest answer about how much time and effort you have put into your work so far (work hard <--> last-minute effort <--> minimum effort to get by)

I work fairly hard while I am doing my work.

4.2. participation (including class participation; attendance, ...);

I have shown up to all but one of the classes, but I rarely add anything to the discussions.

4.3. small assignments,

I have read all of the papers and had the assignments done on time. When there has been summarizers, I have tried to get it done earlier so they may have time to do their work.

4.4. your effort thus far in the independent research activities

I have not done much as of yet, but it is still early in the research.

4.5. your effort thus far in your project

I have not done much as of yet, but it is still early for the project.

5. What do you hope to learn from this course?

5.1. originally before the course started?

I was not sure what to expect coming into the course, so I did not have anything specific in mind of what I wanted to learn.

5.2. now (close to the end of February?)

I am hoping to come away with a better way of understanding other people and where their ideas are coming from to help create better designs in software.
