Collaborative Learning in Undergraduate Classrooms
Research Proposal
We are going to research the status of collaborative learning in current undergraduate classrooms and suggest technologies for supporting and encouraging collaborative learning.
The whole research will have three stages:
- Stage 1: We will read the book "Organizing Genius: The Secrets of Creative Collaboration". We will read some conference papers (e.g. CSCL conference) as well. Reading in this stage will give us a good theoretical foundation for the case study in stage 2.
- Stage 2: We will conduct a case study on a specific undergraduate class (e.g. CSCI 1200). Questionnairs and interviews will be conducted. At the end of this stage, We will know the opinions/expectations students have about collaborative learning and the difficulties they are facing.
- Stage 3: We will suggest technologies for enhancing the collaboration among classmates, therefore improving the learning quality.
