1. What are aspects of the course so far that are positive and need to be sustained?
The "read a paper before and discuss in class" method works well because you have the opportunity to think about the material and maybe form an opinion beforehand. It also helps because if there was something you didn't understand, you can ask about it fairly soon after reading it.
2. What do you think about the following parts of the course?
Lecture sessions
pretty good
Guest Lectures
also pretty good
"practical sessions" (EDC, PitaBoard, Role Playing)
very interesting!
small assignments
not so small - sometimes reading one of those papers took a while!
efforts of getting course participants involved in the course
good - that's really up to the participant. I think the environment is there.
use of technologies (e.g., Swiki, the WWW in general) in the course
swiki is cool!
peer-to-peer learning (e.g., to which extent did it happen in your case)
not much
independent research activities
an ongoing thing... too soon to tell - in theory a good idea!
course projects
another good idea in theory... we'll see how it goes...
how would you improve the course?
there's a lot of repetition and overlap in concepts. maybe that could be trimmed a little.
3. Self-assessment – please let us know how well YOU think you have done in the course Think about this in terms of your performances in:
please give an honest answer about how much time and effort you have put into your work so far (work hard <--> last-minute effort <--> minimum effort to get by)
participation (including class participation; attendance, ......);
small assignments,
your effort thus far in the independent research activities
your effort thus far in your project
I think I've done a reasonable job overall. I've definitely done the minimum here though - sorry. :)
