Questionare #2 - student 2

  1. what are aspects of the course so far that are positive and need to be sustained?

Participants who are formally neither teachers nor students appear in the class, such as Hal, Hiro, Eric and Yunwen.

  2. what do you think about the following parts of the course?

    1. Lecture sessions

I am quite comfortable in the class because I can take enough time to THINK, not only to memorize.

    2. Guest Lectures

Guest lecturers from L3D make good convergence to the lecture, but
divergence like CS colloquia might give another perspective to the subjects of the class.

    3. "practical sessions" (EDC, PitaBoard, Role Playing)

I like practical sessions, but my only complaint is that the time slot is too short.
3 hours session (30min lecture + 2.5hrs practice) looks ideal to me.

    4. small assignments

Assignments are good milestones for a lazy student like me, and each paper is really interesting to me.

    5. efforts of getting course participants involved in the course

I think the amount of required effort is not too much.

    6. use of technologies (e.g., Swiki, the WWW in general) in the course

I like Swiki and hope the course announcements and some other PDF files were directly in swiki pages so that anyone including students could put some comments.

    7. peer-to-peer learning (e.g., to which extent did it happen in your case)

One favorite thing in this class is that I can hear student's opinions from different cultural backgrounds.

    8. independent research activities

I think those activities off the class are good instances of the title of the course.
Although I understand independent research projects are on theories and semester design projects are in practices, I still don't see why they should be performed separately.

    9. course projects

      The same as described above

  3. how would you improve the course?

I would put some of CS colloquia into the class activities because some of technologies described in CS colloquia give certain effect to activities in the real world.

  4. self-assessment – please let us know how well YOU think you have done in the course Think about this in terms of your performances in:

    1. please give an honest answer about how much time and effort you have put into your work so far (work hard <--> last-minute effort <--> minimum effort to get by)

It varied by each session. I regret that I took too much lectures, and hope I could more concentrate on this class.

    2. participation (including class participation; attendance, ......);

I think I participate in the class well.

    3. small assignments,

I regret that I missed deadline of one assignment by my mistake and
I think I did my best to other assignments.

    4. your effort thus far in the independent research activities

I believe I'm doing my best, but the progress is not as good as I expected.

    5. your effort thus far in your project

I really like my(our) project and I'm putting my effort as much as possible.

    6. anything else you would like us to know?

It would be nice if the assignments were notified at least one week in advence.
