Lifelong Learning: Changing Mindsets


1.What did you find interesting about the article?


Many participant expressed their interest in the establishment of the "new" mindset in the education enviroment. Many showed the interest of the transition from "traditional" classroom learning to the new style of learning that will teach us not only the knowledge but also the means to continue to learn in the various future working enviornment, and treat the learning beyond the classroom as a lifetime commitment.


1.2.What did you find not interesting about the article?


Payal hope to have more solid evidence to show the advantages of "new" mindset of learning. Dipti also points the importance of the "motivational factor" in the self-directed learning, and she expresses her concerns of such a "motivational factor" in the environment of using "forced to learn" and passive attitude from the student.

2.What do you consider the main message of the article?

Most participants agreed on the main message of the article. Lifetime learning to cope with the problems of the changing world require new mindset and collaboration.

4.Describe in detail your mindset about learning. How did you develop it? When did you develop it? Did you ever change it? What made you change your mindset?


Some participants described the dynamic changes of their mindset during different stage of their education. One student argues that "enforece" and "passive" learning in the early stage may have to a necessary transtition. Most participants indicate that their current mindset is more toward to the interactive, collaborative and lifetiem learning.

5.Has our course ("Design, Learning, and Collaboration") so far influenced in any way your mindset about learning?


Most people gave postive answer to this question, agreeing that the course have redefined or shaped their mindset of learning in more positive way.

6.What is the impact of media / technologies (e.g., computers) on the formation of mindset – if any?

Many participants agree that the computer-supported multimedia will create the favorable environment for the interactive learning. At the same time, some expressed their uncertainty on the role of the new technology on learning on a large extent.
