Distributed Intelligence:

• distribution among stakeholders:
  • the EDC supports distributed intelligence by encouraging the inclusion of multiple viewpoints and perspectives
  • interaction among:
    • expert viewpoints and
    • perspectives of experiential participants/stakeholders (those who live in the situation and are impacted by the outcomes)
  • dealing with dilemma:
    • to be informed one needs to participate
    • to participate meaningfully, one needs to be informed using inclusive formats and intelligence augmentation to inform in the context of participation

Intelligence Augmentation: distribution between humans and media

• combining action and reflection – detecting and utilizing breakdowns
• bringing information in context - relevant to the task at hand
• affordances for exploration of alternatives - what-if exercises, visualizations
  • supporting linking of alternatives with outcomes (argumentation spaces)
  • modeling of alternatives (taking information given and using it to develop new perspectives)
