EDC’s contribution to distributed intelligence & intelligence augmentation,
Distributed Intelligence:
- distribution among stakeholders:
- the EDC supports distributed intelligence by encouraging the inclusion of multiple viewpoints and perspectives
- interaction among:
- expert viewpoints and
- perspectives of experiential participants/stakeholders (those who live in the situation and are impacted by the outcomes)
- dealing with dilemma:
- to be informed one needs to participate
- to participate meaningfully, one needs to be informed using inclusive formats and intelligence augmentation to inform in the context of participation
Intelligence Augmentation: distribution between humans and media
- combining action and reflection – detecting and utilizing breakdowns
- bringing information in context - relevant to the task at hand
- affordances for exploration of alternatives - what-if exercises, visualizations
- supporting linking of alternatives with outcomes (argumentation spaces)
- modeling of alternatives (taking information given and using it to develop new perspectives)
