Hello there, my name is Guy Cobb and I'm currently (as of fall 2007) a first year Ph.D. student in Computer Science. My interests are mostly in Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing, though in general my interests are rather broad. I graduated in fall 2006 from Indiana University with a double major in CS and Math. I wanted to do something that made use of both, and after having done a little bit of undergraduate research in NA I was pretty sure I knew what I wanted to study in grad school.
For the moment, I'm mostly taking classes and an independent study with my advisor Dr. Cai. Relevant classes for fall 2007 are:
CSCI-5606 Principles of Numerical Computation
CSCI-5576 High Performance Scientific Computing
So far they have been very interesting and I'm looking forward to the rest of my time here.
As part of the intro class, we were asked to read a dissertation and comment on it. I've been reading a dissertation as part of an independent study I have been doing with my advisor Xiao-Chuan Cai. Guy's Assignment 13
