Citeseer: Free, but not as thorough as Google Scholar. Seems to have a more selective indexing than Google Scholar, which could be viewed as an advantage or a disadvantage. Has nice features under "statistics" where the user can view the top articles in many specific categories, such as "Natural Language Processing" or "Agents".

Google Scholar Free, thorough, and accurate. Even includes papers not hosted on official academic sites (could be an advantage or a disadvantage). Also has full-featured advanced search, including the function to indicate in which field to perform the search.

ACM This resource seems to show mainly ACM publications. As such, it is a necessary resource, but is also limited. Also, it charges a fee for membership or a one-time use fee for downloading a given article. One nice feature: a user can create a "virtual binder" to store his or her favorite set of papers.
